Doctor Who’s pre-launch for the Fifteenth Doctor, played by Ncuti Gatwa, has been a trainwreck. The David Tennant episodes leading up to his debut were filled with identity politics cringe, from pronoun lectures to “bi-generation,” a newly invented term for David Tennant giving birth to the new Doctor. It’s been coupled with Russell T. Davies bragging about upsetting fans with wokeism, and now Ncuti Gatwa is giving an interview accusing fans of being racist in advance of his debut.
It seems like the same tired old promotional tactic started by Disney with the Captain Marvel movie and The Last Jedi – put out a terrible product that bastardizes the intellectual property, race, and gender swap characters, insert LGBTQ content, and then blame fans for the mess when they don’t come in and support it anyway. Ncuti Gatwa is continuing this trend by implying fans who don’t like his iteration of Doctor Who are racist.

The new series will likely fail, with anticipated low ratings for the Doctor Who Christmas Special: The Church On Ruby Road. Even David Tennant’s return couldn’t excite fans, as his first return special posted a dismal 5.08 million viewers, half of what he used to receive during his run on the show. The final episode, “The Giggle,” received the worst David Tennant rating in Doctor Who history with 4.62 million viewers.
In the episode, he split The Doctor into two, with Ncuti Gatwa popping out wearing no pants and creating a second TARDIS. Coupled with the teaser trailer showing Gatwa prancing around in a skirt and twirling in a nightclub like a teenage girl, fans are anticipating the show to be a complete woke trainwreck filled with gay pride imagery.

Gatwa seems aware his new show will fail, and he’s already attacking fans. “And then I clicked on one tweet that wasn’t as positive. And then that opened up an entire world of the opposite feeling. ‘Oh no. There they are.’ Seeing the anagrams of my name [made into a racial slur] was just lovely,” he said in an interview, already making sure to signal that racism is going to be the reason his new iteration of Doctor Who fails.
He went further, making it clear the show is going to push extreme leftist agendas, stating, “‘But it was interesting. As I say, I live in a very leftist, liberal bubble. And, in fact, there’s a really great episode coming up next year where we lean into that.”
Leaning into identity politics is not what viewers want from the show, and it sheds light on a recent Russell T. Davies interview where he said he would be “upsetting fans” in this new Doctor Who season.
Gatwa further mentions the show will be pushing the race-baiting agenda. When asked if it would address his race, he stated, “Yes, definitely. It would be stupid if we didn’t.” He continued, “The Doctor has always walked into unknown situations and taken charge with authority. Historically, there’s only really one demographic of people that are able to do that – and it’s certainly not a woman, and it’s certainly not someone black. Thank God, things are changing.”
His comments show a cynical misunderstanding of the world and that he and the show’s producers are more interested in harassing their fans with relentless identity politics messaging than producing a good show for families to watch.
